Back in 1989, prog-rock legends Yes were split into two
feuding factions: one band was led by Chris Squires and officially owned the
“Yes” band name; the other went by the name Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe,
which could brag of the talents of four/fifths of the classic ‘70s-era Yes
line-up. This foursome went on tour featuring “An Evening of Yes Music, Plus”
that offered new material performed alongside classic Yes tunes. Lawsuits began
flying and when the dust cleared, all eight members from both bands came
together to create the mega-hit album Union.
On August 28th, 2007 our friends at Music Video Distributors
will be releasing the DVD An Evening Of Yes. Featuring a concert
performance from the often-maligned 1989 tour, the 142-minute DVD includes
songs from the Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe album along with classic Yes hits
like “Close To The Edge” and “Long Distance Runaround.” The packaging sports
nifty Roger Dean artwork (a staple on Yes albums from very early in the band’s
history) and an extensive DVD booklet with new liner notes. This is a long
overdue release and a “must have” not only for fans of Yes (like yours truly)
but for any fan of progressive rock.
